The Garden Club

The Garden Club was formed in 1963 and was in those days known as the Weston on the Green Horticultural Society who ran a 'Flower and Produce' show in conjunction with six other local societies. Competitors entered all seven local shows if they wanted to win the coveted 'Moore Blackthorn Trophy' for the most points gained in the seven shows or the 'Harris Trophy' for most points for vegetable classes. The seven shows were run under the rules of The Royal Horticultural Society, which is still going strong. However, of the seven shows, Weston on the Green was the last remaining one maintaining the tradition apart from a break over Covid.
